Texas St. vs. Florida St. Odds
No. 10 Florida State begins its quest for another playoff appearance on Saturday night when it hosts Texas State at 8PM ET on ESPN News.
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Florida State is the heavy favorite at home, as the Seminoles are getting odds of -29 points against Texas State tonight. The over/under total for the game has been set at 63.5 points. These two have no recent meetings.
Florida State was 13-1 last season with an 8-0 record in the ACC. The Seminoles won the conference title and lost in the playoff semifinals. FSU was just 3-11 against the spread last year while going 8-6 with the under. FSU has failed to cover the spread in 6 straight non-conference games. Jimbo Fisher enters his sixth season as head coach of FSU. He is 58-11 in his previous five years with three conference titles and a national championship. The Seminoles have a big hole to fill at QB as Jameis Winston is now in the NFL. FSU was able to land some help, though, in Notre Dame transfer Everett Golson. Golson threw for 3,445 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2014 and had 14 interceptions.
Texas State was 7-5 last season and 5-3 in the Sun Belt. The Bobcats were 9-3 against the spread and 6-5-1 with the over in 2014. The Bobcats have covered the spread in six straight road games and in six of their last seven non-conference contests. Dennis Franchione is in his fifth season as head coach of the Bobcats. He is 36-34 in four seasons with the team. Franchione has an experience QB this year as Tyler Jones returns as starter under center. Jones threw for 2,670 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2014 with only seven interceptions.
