Texas Tech Red Raiders Game Notes
Tyler Shough is expected to make a second consecutive start Saturday against Iowa State, Don Williams of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports. With fellow quarterback Behren Morton sidelined due to an ankle issue, Shough drew the start versus Kansas and completed 20 of his 33 pass attempts for 246 yards and one touchdown. He also added 12 carries for another 76 yards and an additional score in the contest. While Shough is slated to make another start this weekend, he could cede some snaps to rushing QB Donovan Smith.
Iowa State Cyclones Game Notes
Hunter Dekkers was 28-for-42 passing for 274 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions during Saturday’s 20-14 defeat to Oklahoma State. Dekkers’ mistakes are starting to pile up as he now has thrown three interceptions in two of his last three games. On the season, he’s thrown 13 interceptions which is far too many for a team who relies on grinding out wins with their run-game and defense. Iowa State will host Texas Tech next week.
