Blue runs wild vs. Clemson

Jaydon Blue notched 14 carries for 146 yards and two touchdowns and reeled in all two targets for 31 yards during Saturday’s 38-24 victory against Clemson. Blue paced the Longhorns’ backfield with Qunitrevion Wisner (knee) held out during the second half of the contest due to a knee issue and didn’t disappoint, reeling off a 77-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to help put the game away. Wisner is reportedly fine and should be available for CFP Quarterfinal matchup with Arizona State, but Blue’s performance has likely earned him some additional run.

Skattebo goes off in Big 12 title game

Cam Skattebo accrued 16 carries for 170 yards and two touchdowns and gathered in all two targets for 38 yards and one touchdown during Saturday’s 45-19 victory against Iowa State. Skattebo has logged three touchdowns in each of his last three games, the last being Arizona State’s dominant win to clinch the 2024 Big 12 Championship and a first-round bye in the 2024-25 College Football Playoff. The three-game span not only saw nine touchdowns from Skattebo but also his 65 carries and six receptions for 552 total yards.

Texas is 19-3 SU in its last 22 games

The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Texas’s last 5 games

Arizona State is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games

Arizona State is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games

Texas vs. Arizona State CFP Prediction

Take Texas. None of the underdogs have truly taken control at any point in any of these playoff games. Did Clemson give Texas a test? Yes, but they were chasing all game. Did Boise State nearly pull off a backdoor cover last night versus Penn State? Yes, but again, it’s not as if the Broncos ever had control of the game despite making things interesting early in the third quarter.

These matchup feels a lot like that Penn State-Boise game. If Texas can slow down Skattebo, it’ll contain ASU’s offense and seize control of the game. The Sun Devils might be able to slow down the Longhorns’ offense at times, but they’ll eventually cave, just like Boise did last night.

Texas vs. Arizona State CFP Prediction: Texas Longhorns -12.5
