Texas Longhorns Game Notes
Texas senior QB Sam Ehlinger completed 15-of-23 passes for 270 yards, one touchdown and an interception while rushing for 51 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 27-16 victory over Baylor. Texas skewed extremely run-heavy today, as they led 27-3 at the end of the third quarter and were trying to deflate the ball. Ehlinger (6’3/225) was his typical battering-ram self on ground, grinding out the tough yards. When asked to throw, interception aside, he was both efficient and explosive today, averaging 11.7 YPA on 65.2% completions. We’re so-so on Ehlinger as an NFL prospect. He’s a great runner and a good leader, but in the pocket he has a mediocre arm and his accuracy waivers. Texas has a tough assignment next week at Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Game Notes
Oklahoma State redshirt sophomore QB Spencer Sanders completed 20-of-29 passes for 235 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in a 24-21 victory over Iowa State on Saturday. Sanders (6’1/205) also rushed 15 times for 71 yards and a 14-yard scramble where he bounced out of the pocket down the left sideline and dodged a pair of tacklers to punch it in the end zone for a touchdown. While he completed 68 percent of his passes, he stalled out drives with his multiple interceptions. This marks the first game Sanders has played in since being injured in their opener against Tulsa after throwing only two passes. Sanders will now turn the page to next Saturday when OSU hosts Big 12 rival Texas.
