Texas edges Oklahoma State
The Texas Longhorns had a tough fight two weeks ago, edging Oklahoma State at home by a score of 36-30. The Longhorns are now 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in the Big 12, 2-2 against the spread and 3-1 with the over.
Texas has been putting up steady numbers on offense, averaging 41.8 points and 497.8 yards per game. The defense is allowing 25.5 points and 436.5 yards per contest. Sam Ehlinger is leading the team with 1,237 passing yards and 15 touchdowns while also rushing for 191 yards and a score. Keaontay Ingram is the team’s leading rusher with 295 yards and three scores while Devin Duvernay is the leading receiver with 39 catches for 377 yards and four touchdowns.
WVU finds a way past Kansas
West Virginia is coming off a 29-24 win at Kansas two weeks ago. The Mountaineers are 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in the Big 12, 2-1-1 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total on the year.
The Mountaineers are not the offensive team we remember, as WVU is averaging just 25 points and 326 yards per game this season. The defense isn’t too bad, giving up just 25.5 points and 374 yards per contest. Quarterback Austin Kendall is leading the team with 871 passing yards and six touchdowns while Sam James is the leading receiver with 26 catches for 263 yards. Kennedy McKoy is the leading rusher with just 151 yards and three scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Texas
The Longhorns are 13-5 with the under in their last 18 road games and 12-5 with the under in their last 17 games in October.
West Virginia
West Virginia has hit the over in six straight conference games and in six of its last seven against a winning team.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in three of their last five meetings. This should be an interesting matchup, as West Virginia has struggled to move the ball effectively for most of the season. Texas can move the ball, bit its defense isn’t always on point. However, the Longhorns did hold an explosive Oklahoma State team to just 30 points two weeks ago. I think Texas can contain this subpar WVU offense, even on the road. Where Texas could struggle is on offense. The Longhorns haven’t hit the road yet this year, so execution on offense could take a slight hit. If Texas can’t put up a big number on offense, the over can’t hit.
