Toledo vs. Ohio State Prediction & Odds
Both Ohio schools are coming into this contest 2-0. Ohio State knocked off 5th-ranked Notre Dame in week 1 and Arkansas State last week. Toledo has blowout wins over Long Island and UMass. This will be a night game in the Horseshoe, and the atmosphere should be electric.

Toledo Rockets Game Notes
Toledo has a true-dual threat quarterback in 6’2” 210-pound sophomore Dequan Finn. He was dynamic in the Rockets’ 55-10 over UMass throwing for 177 yards and a touchdown and running 74 yards and two touchdowns. He’ll face a much tougher test in Columbus on Saturday.
Toledo wide receiver Jerjuan Newton has been a big play threat for the Rockets in the early going. He’s averaging 20 yards per catch and recorded a touchdown in the opening game against Long Island and 106 yards against UMass last week. He may stretch the Buckeyes’ secondary a little bit.
Ohio State Buckeyes Game Notes
For Ohio State, the main focus is on quarterback C.J. Stroud. The Heisman favorite before the season began, Stroud has been as good as advertised. He’s thrown for 574 yards and 6 touchdowns over the first two games of the 2022 campaign, and his QBR is 90.1 out of 100, good for 6th in the nation.
The Buckeye offense is loaded with potential NFL players at the skill positions, but the defense is no slouch either. They’re only giving up 11 points per game and held 5th-ranked Notre Dame to 10 total points, including 0 in the second half. Senior linebacker Tommy Eichenberg is the straw that stirs the drink. He had 11 solo tackles in Ohio State’s Rose Bowl win last year and two sacks against Notre Dame in Ohio State’s first game of the season.

Toledo vs. Ohio State Betting Prediction
This is the classic trap game for Ohio State. They play Wisconsin at home next weekend under the lights in Columbus on ABC. They might be looking ahead to that game this Saturday. There’s also the matter of turnovers or lack thereof. Neither of these teams turn the ball over very much, and I think that could lead to a bevy of points being scored. If you want to play the spread, I would lean towards Toledo +32 as that’s a lot of points, but my best bet for this game is on the total. Ohio State will be able to score, but their defense won’t be razor-sharp. Take the over.
