Troy Trojans Game Notes
Troy wide receiver Deshon Stoudemire missed the team’s last game with an undisclosed injury, and it’s unclear if he’ll be able to suit up for Saturday’s tilt with Kansas State. Stoudemire is listed as the club’s starting flanker and had 41 catches for 507 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Trojans last season.
Troy running back Kiman Vidal had a monster game in his team’s 48-30 win over Stephen F. Austin last weekend. Vidal had 25 carries for 248 yards and caught 2 passes for 54 yards. He had 1,132 rushing yards and 10 rushing TDs last season and should play a major role in keeping this game close on Saturday.
Kansas State Wildcats Game Notes
Kansas State wide receiver Keagan Johnson missed last week’s game with an unspecified ailment, and it’s unknown if he’ll make his season debut this Saturday against Troy. Johnson is listed as the team’s backup X-receiver and second-string kickoff returner. He had 20 catches for 363 yards and 2 touchdowns in 15 games at Iowa over the past two seasons.

If Johnson remains out, Kansas State wide receiver RJ Garcia II could have another big game. In Kansas State’s Week 1 win over SE Missouri, Garcia hauled in 5 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. He is stepping into a bigger role this season and could see an increased target share in Week 2 and beyond if he keeps playing well.

Troy was 6-0 ATS as an underdog last season.
Troy was 6-0 ATS as the road team last season.
Troy vs. Kansas State Betting Prediction
Troy deserves some more respect from the oddsmakers. The Trojans posted the second-most ATS wins last season (11) behind only Tulane. On top of that, Troy has won their last 12 games in a row straight up. The school is located in Alabama, so it gets to draw from a fertile recruiting base and scoop up the players that the SEC schools pass on. It’s a formula that worked last season for first-year Trojans head coach Jon Sumrall, and I see no reason it shouldn’t work again.
This is also a potential look-ahead spot for Kansas State. The Wildcats face their former Big 12 rival Missouri on the road next weekend in what should be a challenging test. I could see Kansas State playing less than their best against a nondescript Troy team on Saturday. If that happens, Troy should be able to keep the game close enough to cover the spread. Because of that, I like the Trojans on the road in the Little Apple this weekend.
