Tulane Green Wave Game Notes
Tulane freshman QB Michael Pratt completed 19-of-27 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 38-12 victory over Army. He added 19 yards on the ground. The youngster Pratt (6’2/200) encountered a top-35 Army defense that is strong against both the run and pass. He passed every test, completing over 70% of his passes for 7.3 YPA while not turning the ball over. Tulane started the season 2-4 but has really started to roll as Pratt has gotten his feet under him. The Green Wave have won three-straight games, all by 17 points or more, while Pratt has now accounted for at least two touchdowns in each of his six appearances. Tulane will look to further bolster its bowl chances on Thursday at Tulsa.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane Game Notes
Tulsa redshirt senior QB Zach Smith completed 26-of-38 passes for 325 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in a 28-24 win over SMU on Saturday. An excellent game from Smith; maybe the best he’s played as a member of the Golden Hurricane roster. He found Josh Johnson for two of the touchdowns, but the biggest was a four-yard strike to James Palmer with 2:11 left that gave Tulsa a late lead and ultimately a huge victory over the (previously) 7-1 Mustangs. Smith is clearly talented, but has struggled to consistently get the ball downfield as the starter. He certainly didn’t have any issues on Saturday. Tulsa is 4-1, and can move to 5-0 in conference on Thursday if they beat Tulane.
