Tulsa vs. Texas Total Prediction
The Texas Longhorns got their season off to a rough start last week by losing on the road to Maryland. They’ll likely get back on track this weekend when they host Tulsa at home but will the two teams combine for enough points to push the score over the total?

Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Longhorns are 23-point favorites to beat the Golden Hurricane The total, meanwhile, sits at 61 points. As of this writing, 55% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Longhorns.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane
Tulsa redshirt sophomore Luke Skipper completed 15 of his 24 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 38-27 win over Central Arkansas. In addition to his work through the air Skipper also rushed for 30 yards and another touchdown on 13 carries, with a long of 25. Skipper’s 49-yard first quarter touchdown pass to Justin Hobbs opened the scoring, but he was also responsible for a fourth quarter fumble that Central Arkansas returned for a 20-yard touchdown to take a 27-24 lead. To Skipper’s credit he rebounded to lead Tulsa on two drives that ended with touchdowns, thus sealing the win.
Texas Longhorns
Texas sophomore QB Sam Ehlinger will start Saturday’s game against Tulsa. Ehlinger struggled for the most part in the opening loss to the Terrapins, completing just 21-of-39 passes and throwing two interceptions to go with two touchdowns in the loss. Shane Buechele battled for the starting job, but he’ll remain on the bench against the Hurricane on Saturday — at least to start. Ehlinger will certainly need to be better against Tulsa to keep the job going forward.

Prediction
The Golden Hurricane won just two games a year ago and didn’t look sharp in their season opener, falling behind 13-7 to Central Arkansas early and 27-24 in the fourth quarter before rallying to a 38-27 victory. The Longhorns are likely angry coming off their road loss to Maryland and I expect Tom Herman to send a message to the fan base that this won’t be yet another lost year in Austin. Assuming the Longhorns get off the mat, I expect them to roll against the Golden Hurricane and rack up plenty of points to support a play on the over.
