Tulsa Golden Hurricane Game Notes
Tulsa starting quarterback Braylon Braxton exited the team’s game last week with an ankle injury. He’s officially listed as questionable for Saturday’s game at Washington. Braxton played in 9 games last season and threw for 1,133 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions, while also rushing for 145 yards and 5 touchdowns. If he’s unable to play, he will likely be replaced by redshirt freshman QB Cardell Williams. Williams played most of the game after Braxton got injured last week against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and completed 13 of 14 passes for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Golden Hurricane’s decisive 42-7 Week 1 victory.

Washington Huskies Game Notes
Washington lost starting running back Cameron Davis to a lower-body injury this summer that was severe enough that it will cause him to miss the entire 2023 season. Davis was second on the club in rushing last season with 522 yards and led the team in rushing touchdowns with 13. Redshirt sophomore Will Nixon got most of the work in Washington’s 56-19 win over Boise State on Saturday as he ran for 48 yards on 6 carries. Former Mississippi State RB Dillon Johnson should see some carries on Saturday as Washington looks to get more players involved in a non-conference game that they should win handily.
Tulsa vs. Washington Betting Trends
Tulsa is 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games.
Washington is 9-5 ATS in their last 14 games.
The over is 9-4-1 in Washington’s last 14 games.
The over was 7-5 in Tulsa’s 12 games last season.
Tulsa vs. Washington Betting Prediction
Washington had one of the most explosive offenses in the country last season. Last year, they ranked second in the nation in yards per play (9.2), second in points per play (0.903), and 26th in yards per point (13.1). The Huskies brought back star QB Michael Penix Jr. who ranked second in all of college football with 4,641 passing yards last season. Washington also returned star wide receivers Rome Odunze and Jalen McMillan who both topped 1,000 yards receiving last season. It’s head coach Kalen DeBoer’s second year at the helm and Michael Penix’s second year in the offense, meaning that the Huskies have a chance to be even better this year than they were last season, despite the loss of running back Cameron Davis.
Tulsa may be missing their starting quarterback for this game. Even if Braylon Braxton plays, the Golden Hurricane will likely have a tough time hanging with the Huskies. Tulsa’s defense ranked 116th in the nation in opponent points per play, 116th in yards per point, and 106th in opponent yards per play last season. They’ll likely have a hard time stopping their conference opponents. I can’t see any way they’ll slow down one of the most dynamic offenses in the country. I like Washington to roll in this one.
