COLLEGE FOOTBALL FREE PICK: South Carolina may have some quarterback issues again but it won’t matter in this game. Connor Shaw (shldr) is questionable but Dylan Thompson showed he could play last week, completing 21 of 37 passes for 330 yards in a 48-10 win over East Carolina. They passed for just 67 yards the previous week against Vanderbilt, when Shaw injured his throwing shoulder. RB Marcus Lattimore scored his 33 TD pass last week and should put up a few more against UAB. The Blazers are trying to rebuild under new coach Garrick McGere. UAB opened their season on Sept. 1 and fell to Sun Belt powerhouse, Troy, 39-29. That’s not a good sign for a team about ready to take on one of the best teams in college football.
