Arizona wins low-scoring battle
The Wildcats have won their last two games after losing at Hawaii in their opener. Arizona bested Texas Tech at home two weeks ago, 28-14. Arizona is 2-1 on the year, 1-2 against the spread and 2-1 with the over.
Arizona is an offensive power, putting up 43.7 points and 586 yards per game. Defensively, the Wildcats have struggled, as they are giving up 33.3 points and 482.7 yards per contest. Khalil Tate is leading the team with 684 passing yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 238 yards and two scores. Gary Brightwell has added 226 rushing yards and three scores while Tayvian Cunningham is the leading receiver with 12 catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Jace Whittaker has three interceptions to lead the defense.
UCLA with shocking comeback
UCLA overcame a 49-17 deficit last week to beat Washington State on the road, 67-63. UCLA is now 1-3 on the season, 1-0 in the Pac-12, 1-3 against the spread and 3-1 with the under.
The Bruins had an offensive outburst last weekend, but they are averaging 27.3 points and 361.8 yards per game on offense for the season. The defense is allowing 39.5 points and 530.3 yards per game. Dorian Thompson-Robinson is leading the team with 1,063 passing yards and 10 touchdowns with five interceptions. Joshua Kelley is the leading rusher with 194 yards while Demetric Felton is the leading receiver with 20 catches for 321 yards and three touchdowns. Felton has also rushed for 177 yards.
College Football Betting Trends
Arizona
The Wildcats have hit the over in five of their last six games overall and in four of their last five Pac-12 games.
UCLA
The Bruins have hit the over in four of their last five conference games and in four of their last five following a cover.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in four straight meetings, but I can’t go with that today. The performance last week by UCLA is head-scratching and has gone against everything we’ve seen from the Bruins this year. Granted they have played some good defenses thus far in 2019, but they were still struggling for a good chunk of the game before exploding for offense thanks to some Washington State turnovers. I am not sure we can expect UCLA’s offense to be magically cured. Arizona is a very dangerous offense, but the Cats had just a 28-14 win against Texas Tech at home last week in a game that should have been much higher scoring on paper. I think UCLA may not be ready to score a lot again this week, so I will go with the under.
