Texas defeated Rice 34-9 in the season opener and is coming off a 17-16 win over BYU last week. The Longhorns held BYU to just 235 yards of offense but had just 289 yards of its own. The Cougars took a 13-0 lead in the game before Texas fought back to win. Case McCoy, brother of Longhorn great, Colt McCoy, threw for 57 yards in the win as starter Garrett Gilbert was 2-for-8 passing for 8 yards and two interceptions before being pulled from the game.
UCLA lost 38-34 to Houston in the season opener before bouncing back with a 27-17 win over San Jose State last week. UCLA was actually tied with the Spartans 17-17 entering the final quarter before scoring the last 10 points of the game. UCLA finished the game with 417 yards of offense, including 272 rushing yards. Running back Derrick Coleman led the way with 135 rushing yards and one touchdown. Defensively, UCLA allowed 202 rushing yards to San Jose State.
In terms of Injuries, UCLA quarterback Kevin Prince is questionable for the game because of a concussion while linebacker Glenn Love is questionable with a shoulder injury. Texas linebacker Demarco Cobbs is out for Saturday’s game with an arm injury.
