UCLA vs. Washington College Football Predictions Against the Spread 10/28/17

UCLA vs. Washington Prediction

Is the UCLA-Washington line inflated today at 3:30PM ET? Can bettors trust the Bruins to cover as a huge road underdog?

ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Washington. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Huskies are now 17.5-point home favorite versus the Bruins, who opened as 17-point underdogs. As for the total, the number hit the board at 61 but has been bet down a full field goal at the majority of online sports books.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Washington. Public bettors aren’t scared to lay the big number with the Huskies, who are receiving 63% of the tickets in today’s Pac-12 matchup. UCLA enters play with a 4-3 record but has had issues covering the spread all year, posting a 2-5 record at the betting window. Washington, meanwhile, is 6-1 straight up and 4-3 against the spread.

HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: The Bruins. UCLA is 11-4 against the spread in its last 15 games against Washington and has covered in six of its last eight trips to Seattle. That said, the favorite is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams.

WHO WE LIKE: UCLA…begrudgingly. The last time we saw the Huskies they were held to a lone touchdown on the road against Arizona State in a 13-7 defeat, which was Washington’s first loss of the season. I do think that 7-point outing was an aberration for an offense that features Jake Browning, Myles Gaskin and Dante Pettis. Still, for Washington to lay 17.5 points to a Pac-12 rival that is averaging 38.3 points per game is a tall order. UCLA is horrendous defensively, allowing 494.0 yards and 36.7 points per game this season. But Josh Rosen could wind up being the No. 1 overall pick in next April’s NFL draft and leads a Bruins offense that ranks third nationally in passing yards per game. I fully admit I’m banking on Washington’s offense to remain in a funk for at least another week, although my assumption is that Rosen can keep the game relatively tight with his arm.
