UL-Lafayette vs. App State Prediction
The Sun Belt will have the spotlight in the college football world on Friday night when UL-Lafayette visits Appalachian State at 8:30 p.m. ET. Listed as only a 2.5-point home favorite, are the Mountaineers the best play for bettors or is there a better play on the board?

UL-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns Game Notes
Louisiana sophomore WR Peter Leblanc (undisclosed) is back on the team’s depth chart against Appalachian State on Friday. LeBlanc (6’2/190) has played in every game besides Louisiana’s 70-20 blowout of ULM last Saturday. He still leads the Ragin’ Cajuns in receiving with 23 receptions, 334 yards and a touchdown. He was apparently caught up in UL’s COVID-19 breakout that caused their game against Central Arkansas to be cancelled two weeks ago. The sophomore wideout is expected to play in UL’s huge Sun Belt Conference tilt at Appalachian State this Friday.
Appalachian State Mountaineers Game Notes
Appalachian State senior QB Zac Thomas completed 22-of-29 passes for 279 passes for four touchdowns in Saturday’s 47-10 win over Troy. Thomas (6’1/210) had been in a rut the past couple of weeks. In neither of his previous two games did he clear even 7.5 yards per attempt and he tossed just two touchdowns to four picks over that span. Against Troy on Saturday, though, Thomas came alive. He looked as confident as ever chucking it down the field against a Troy defense that, to be fair, has been quite shaky this season. With App State trying to finish out the year strong, they are going to need a couple more performances like this out of Thomas. Next week’s game against Louisiana is a big one.
UL-Lafayette vs. Appalachian State Betting Prediction
The road team is 6-2 against the spread in the last eight meetings between these two teams but so is the under and I like the value better in the total. The under is 4-0 in the Ragin’ Cajuns last four games when facing an opponent with a winning record and is 8-2 in their last 10 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. The under is also 13-5 in their last 18 games overall, is 5-2 in their last seven games as a road underdog and has cashed in seven of the Ragin’ Cajuns’ last 10 games in December as well.
The under has been profitable on the other side as well, cashing in four of the Mountaineers’ last five games as a favorite. The under is also 5-1-1 in their last seven games coming off a win and is 19-6-1 in their last 26 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
