UNLV Rebels Game Notes
UNLV running back Jai’Den Thomas had a big game in the Rebels’ 44-14 win over Bryant last weekend. The true freshman ran for 60 yards and 2 touchdowns on only 8 carries while adding a reception for 9 yards. Thomas is listed as the third back on UNLV’s depth chart but could see some more touches if he continues to produce.
Arkansas transfer weak side linebacker Jackson Woodard led the club in tackles on Saturday. Woodard tallied 9 total tackles as he made his presence felt in his team’s season-opening victory. Woodard only had 16 total tackles in 3 seasons at Arkansas so his expanded role could mean increased production for the Rebels in 2023.
Michigan Wolverines Game Notes
The Wolverines were without two starting members of their secondary during their Week 1 30-3 win over East Carolina on Saturday. Cornerback Will Johnson and safety Rod Moore were both listed as questionable but neither took the field on Saturday. They’re not listed on the injury report this week, so both players should be good to go against UNLV this weekend.

Michigan backup X-receiver Peyton O’Leary is officially listed as questionable with an undisclosed injury. He didn’t suit up last week and his status is up in the air for this weekend. Michigan backup linebacker Jimmy Rolder missed last week’s contest with an unspecified injury and he’s officially listed as questionable for Saturday’s clash with UNLV. Rolder recorded 14 total tackles in a reserve role last season.

UNLV vs. Michigan Betting Prediction
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will be serving the second game of a four-game suspension for this game. He won’t be on the sidelines due to recruiting violations that occurred during a COVID-19 “dead period.” The Wolverines seemed to miss him last week as they only beat East Carolina 30-3. Michigan was favored by 36 points in that contest. They’ll be favored by 37.5 points against UNLV this weekend.
UNLV hired former Texas passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach Brennan Marion as their new offensive coordinator for 2023. Marion was an all-conference wide receiver for Tulsa during his college playing career and he’s been a position coach at Hawai’i, Pittsburgh, and Texas before becoming the OC for UNLV. I think he’ll bring a fresh perspective to an offense that ranked 91st in yards per play last season, and the Rebels will be able to keep it within 5 touchdowns against the Wolverines in Ann Arbor this Saturday.
