2012 Heisman Trophy Updated Odds
(The Spread) – Oddsmakers have updated the odds for the 2012 Heisman Trophy, and USC quarterback Matt Barkley remains favored.
Oddsmakers currently favor Barkley to win the Heisman at 3/1, while Wisconsin running back Montee Ball is 6/1. Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson has the next best odds at 7/1, while West Virginia signal caller Geno Smith is 8/1. Landry Jones of Oklahoma is 9/1, Aaron Murray of Georgia is 15/1 and South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore is 18/1.
Barkley racked up 3,528 passing yards with 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions last year while leading USC to a 10-2 record. His best effort came in a 468-yard, four-touchdown passing performance in a 48-41 win over Arizona, although he also threw five touchdown passes in a 38-17 romp over Syracuse. With USC expected to win the Pac 12 this season, Barkley will get plenty of Heisman hype.

Meanwhile, Ball led the nation in rushing yards and touchdowns last year with a 1,923-yard, 33-touchdown performance. He averaged 6.1 yards per carry and toted the rock 303 times. He also added 24 catches for 306 yards with six touchdowns and failed to rush for over 100 yards just four times last season. Twice he scored two touchdowns in one game – a 48-17 win over Nebraska and a 45-7 trouncing over Penn State.
Continuing with the odds, Oregon running back De’Anthony Thomas is 20/1 to win the 2012 Heisman Trophy while Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron is 23/1. Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel is 30/1, Arkansas signal caller Tyler Wilson is 33/1 and Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead is 35/1. For a complete list of 2012 Heisman Trophy odds, see below.
