Meyer’s Reaction Mixed
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Five practices into his tenure at Ohio State, coach Urban Meyer is both impressed with some things he’s seen and also realizes the Buckeyes have a long way to go.
Meyer, speaking Wednesday after his first week of spring workouts, says there are bright spots such as defensive lineman John Simon and quarterback Braxton Miller, but problem areas like the offensive line and a lack of big-time playmakers.

Ohio State is coming off a miserable 6-7 season which ended with a four-game losing skid. But the Buckeyes return nine starters on defense and seven on offense.
Meyer, who took over for interim coach Luke Fickell who is now back as a defensive coordinator, says it’s normal for teams to go through growing pains, particularly with a new offense.
