There are plenty of candidates for the 2017 Heisman Trophy. Here is a look at the favorites entering the summer.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, USC’s Sam Darnold is the favorite, as he is listed with 9/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Baker Mayfield (15/2), J.T. Barrett (17/2) and Lamar Jackson (17/2).

Darnold will be a sophomore for the Trojans in 2017. He is coming off a freshman year where he threw for 3,086 yards and 31 touchdowns with only nine interceptions. He also rushed for 250 yards and two scores and completed 67.2 percent of his passes.

Mayfield is entering his senior season at Oklahoma. Last season, Mayfield threw for 3,965 yards and 40 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He completed 71 percent of his passes and ran for 177 yards with six touchdowns. In two seasons with Oklahoma, Mayfield has thrown for 7,665 yards and 76 touchdowns.

J.T. Barrett is entering his senior season with Ohio State. The dual-threat quarterback is coming off a 2016 season where he threw for 2,555 yards and 24 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He completed 61.5 percent of his passes and also rushed for 845 yards with nine touchdowns.

Jackson will be entering his junior season at Louisville in 2017. He threw for 3,543 yards and 30 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He completed just 56.2 percent of his passes while rushing for 1,571 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner.
