USC Trojans Game Notes
USC sophomore QB Caleb Williams can cash in big in the NIL era. The NIL era has affected college football in several different ways and continues to be a major positive for some of the nation’s most prominent college athletes. Williams (6’1/218) is among those who can profit in a big way, tied with CJ Stroud for the second-highest NIL valuation in college football at $2.4 million.
Stanford Cardinal Game Notes
Stanford junior QB Tanner McKee isn’t getting a lot of first-round hype, but some analysts see that as a possibility. McKee (6’6/228) has seen his name littered all over the draft projections and the position rankings ahead of the 2022 season. Some have him as a late-round prospect, while others think he could go as soon as the first round. Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report recently sent McKee to the Detroit Lions with the 28th overall pick: “McKee is reminiscent of fellow Stanford quarterback and current Texans quarterback Davis Mills. The 2021 second-round draftee was relatively overlooked because of his numbers at Stanford but ended up putting up better numbers than every other rookie outside of Mac Jones. If you re-drafted the 2021 class, Mills would go much higher. NFL teams won’t make the same mistake with McKee. The Lions would be happy to snag him as the replacement for Jared Goff in this scenario.”
