Utah State on a win streak
After losing its season opener by three at Wake Forest, Utah State has rattled off three straight wins, including a victory over Colorado State last weekend. The Aggies are 3-1 overall, 3-1 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
Utah State has been able to put up a lot of offense this season, averaging 38.5 points and 533 yards per game. Defensively, Utah State is allowing 21.5 points and 377.5 yards per outing. Quarterback Jordan Love has thrown for 1,207 yards and six touchdowns this year, but also has five interceptions. Siaosi Mariner is his leading receiver with 22 catches for 305 yards and two scores. Jaylen Warren and Gerold Bright have combined for 636 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
LSU dominating on offense
The LSU Tigers are putting up big numbers this year on their way to a 4-0 start to the season. LSU is coming off a 66-38 win at Vanderbilt last weekend. The Tigers are 3-1 against the spread and 4-0 with the over this year.
LSU has an offense that nobody has been able to keep up with in 2019. The Tigers are averaging 57.8 points and 563.5 yards per game this year. Defensively, LSU is allowing 23.3 points and 320 yards per contest. Joe Burrow is an early Heisman contender by throwing for 1,520 yards and 17 touchdowns this year. Burrow is listed as questionable for this game with an undisclosed injury. He has three receivers with over 300 yards. Ja’Marr Chase is leading the way with 20 catches for 397 yards and five touchdowns. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is the leading rusher with 288 yards and five scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Utah State
The Aggies have covered the spread in seven straight non-conference games and in nine of their last 13 road games.
LSU
The Tigers are 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 games in October and in 13 of their last 19 games on grass.
Prediction:
These two teams haven’t met since 2001. Utah State actually covered a 23-point spread in that 31-14 loss to the Tigers. LSU can’t be stopped on offense this year. As long as Burrow is good to play, LSU is going to score. The Tigers have put up at least 45 in every game and at least 55 in three of the four games. While this game isn’t important, the Tigers aren’t going to take their foot off the gas on offense. Utah State has the potential to score, but this is still a pretty good LSU defense it will be facing. I think the Aggies are going to be overwhelmed on both sides of the ball and struggle to compete at all.
College Football Week 6 Prediction: LSU -27.5
