Utah Season Win Total Prediction
After winning 10 games a year ago will the Utah Utes suffer a setback after going through a transition offensively?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Utah’s over/under total for wins in 2016 has been set at 7.5. As previously mentioned, the Utes won 10 games last season, which included victories over Michigan in their season-opener, a 62-20 thrashing of Oregon in Eugene, and a 35-28 win over BYU in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl.

But will Kyle Whittingham’s team take a step back in 2016? While it’s tempting to take the over 7.5 based on the 10 wins that the Utes won a year ago, buyer beware for 2016.
Here’s the good news: Whittingham kept his staff mostly intact this year, with co-offensive coordinators Aaron Roderick and Jim Harding returning. This will be the first time since 2008 that Whittingham will have the same offensive coordinator (or coordinators) for two straight years.
Here’s the bad news: Whittingham has to replace his top two quarterbacks, Travis Wilson and Kendal Thompson, his top running back in Devontae Booker, plus his top three wideouts.
So while the defense will once again be strong (especially the secondary), the offense will go through significant transition. The Utes should still play well enough to be eligible for a bowl game but getting over 7.5 wins will be a challenge. The way I see it, the hook will wind up costing over bettors in the end. I like Utah to win 7 games in 2016.
