Utes ends skid
Utah had its best showing of the season this past weekend with a 40-21 win at Stanford. That put an end to a two-game losing streak for Utah. The Utes are now 3-2 overall, 1-2 in the Pac-12, 2-3 against the spread and 3-2 with the over. Last week’s win also put an end to a 3-game failed cover streak.
Utah has been led by its dominant defense this year. The Utes are giving up just 17.2 points and 296.4 yards per game. That includes just 75.4 rushing yards per contest. On offense, Utah is putting up 25.8 points and 389 yards per game. Quarterback Tyler Huntley has thrown for 1,020 yards and five touchdowns to lead the offense. He also has rushed for 143 yards and two scores. Zack Moss is leading the ground attack with 549 yards and six touchdowns.
Arizona upsets Cal
After a shaky start, Arizona picked up a marquee win last week when it defeated Cal, 24-17. The Wildcats are now 3-3 overall, 2-1 in the Pac-12, 3-3 against the spread and 5-1 with the under.
Arizona is starting to pick things up on offense, averaging 30.3 points and 445.3 yards per game this season. Khalil Tate has thrown for 1,412 yards and 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has rushed for 109 yards. J.J. Taylor is the leading rusher with 600 yards and three touchdowns while Gary Brightwell has 303 yards. Defensively, Arizona is giving up 26.5 points and 428.3 yards per game. The Arizona run defense is really struggling, allowing 197.3 yards per game.
College Football Betting Trends
Utah
Utah is just 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five games following a win, but 6-1 ATS in their last seven games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
Arizona
The Wildcats are just 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 road games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 against a winning team.
Prediction:
After an impressive win over Stanford last week, Utah is getting a lot of credit heading into this game. The Utes haven’t been really blowing out opponents this year, winning by just 11 against Northern Illinois. They struggled with Washington and Washington State and I think the Utes will have trouble with Arizona. The Wildcats have been getting better over the last month and looked strong on defense against Cal and they lost by just four to USC. I just don’t see Utah being able to really pull away from Arizona. The Wildcats have big-play capability even if they can’t sustain a lot of drives.
