According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Stanford is the slight favorite at home, as the Cardinal are getting odds of -5 points against Utah. The over/under total for the contest is currently listed at 46 points. The public betting for this game currently has 64 percent going on Stanford on the road. Utes lose two straight
After a nice pair of wins to open the season, Utah has lost back-to-back games to Washington and Washington State. The Utes are 2-2 overall, 0-2 in the Pac-12, 1-3 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
The Utes have been led this year by their defense, as they are holding opponents to just 16.3 points and 264.8 yards per game. Their run defense is allowing only 83.8 yards per game. Offensively, Utah is putting up 22.3 points and 381.0 yards per game. Tyler Huntley has been leading the offense with 821 passing yards and four touchdowns while rushing for just 120 yards and two scores. Zack Moss is leading the ground attack with 389 yards and four touchdowns.
Stanford falls at Notre Dame
The Cardinal suffered their first loss of the season last week in a 38-17 thrashing at the hands of Notre Dame. Stanford is now 4-1 on the season, 2-0 in the Pac-12, 3-2 against the spread and 3-2 with the under. They have hit the under in all three road games.
Defense has again been the hallmark of Stanford football this season despite last week’s loss. This year, the Cardinal are still holding opponents to just 18.4 points per game despite allowing 395.4 yards per contest. Offensively, Stanford is averaging 26.6 points and 340.4 yards per contest. Bryce Love has been pretty disappointing this year, rushing for 327 yards on 76 carries with three touchdowns. He has an ankle injury that has him listed as questionable for Saturday. K.J. Costello is leading the Stanford offense with 1,230 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. Tight end JJ Arcega-Whiteside has been a red zone monster, catching 22 passes for 438 yards and eight touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Utah
Utah has hit the under in five of its last six games on grass, but has hit the over in five of its last seven conference games.
Stanford
Stanford has hit the under in five straight home games and in seven of its last 10 conference games.
Prediction:
Stanford hasn’t really gotten on track on offense with Love not performing up to expectations. If he is able to go this weekend, he’s not likely to be at his best which should cause some poor offense from Stanford against a respectable Utah defense. I don’t see the Utes giving the Stanford defense as a lot of problems. Stanford has been locked in defensively at home. This game should be a bit of an ugly one.
