Utah Utes Game Notes
Utah senior QB Jake Bentley completed 18-of-27 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 30-24 win over Oregon State. Utah just barely squeezed by Oregon State. The Beavers had the ball late in the game with a chance to tie or take the lead, but ultimately failed, giving Utah their first win of the year. Bentley, though unspectacular, did what he needed to in order to secure the win here. He made sure to avoid disaster, particularly in the interception department, while allowing the run game, defense, and special teams to do the heavy lifting. Utah have Colorado up next.
Colorado Buffaloes Game Notes
Colorado redshirt senior QB Sam Noyer completed 12-of-19 passes for 92 yards and two interceptions while rushing six times for 67 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 24-13 win over Arizona. Throwing the ball was a bit of a struggle for Noyer on Saturday. Not only was his efficiency questionable as is, but he constantly coughed up the ball, which was troubling considering the ground game was doing so much to give him favorable down-and-distances. To his credit, Noyer (6’4/220) did make up for it as a runner, particularly with his 54-yard sprint that went down as the second-longest play of the game. Despite Noyer’s struggles through the air, Colorado remain undefeated.
Utah vs. Colorado Betting Prediction
The Utes are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams and have covered seven of their last eight games coming off a win. Utah is also 9-3 against the number in its last 12 conference games, is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in its previous game and is 22-10 at the betting window in its last 32 road games versus an opponent with a winning home record. The Buffs, meanwhile, have failed to cover in seven of their last 10 games played in December and as previously mentioned, they’ve struggled in this series.
