UTEP vs. Arkansas Odds
No. 18 Arkansas looks to overpower UTEP in its season opener when the two meet on Saturday at 3:30PM ET on ESPNU.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Arkansas is the favorite at home in this contest, as the Razorbacks are getting odds of -33 points against the Miners. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 50.5 points. These last met in 2010 with Arkansas picking up a 58-21 home victory, covering a 28-point spread.
Arkansas is coming off a 7-6 record in 2014 with a 2-6 mark in the SEC. Despite that, Arkansas played everyone tough and had a 10-3 record against the spread. The Razorbacks hit the under in 7 of their 13 lined totals. Arkansas has covered the spread in 5 straight non-conference games. The Razorbacks are in their third season with Brett Bielema as head coach. He is 10-15 in two seasons with a 2-6 SEC record. Bielema and the team suffered a big blow as RB Jonathan Williams was lost for the year with a foot injury, but the team still has Alex Collins. Both men rushed for 1,100 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014.
UTEP was also 7-6 in the 2014 season and it went 5-3 in Conference USA. The Miners were 9-4 against the spread last season while hitting the under in 8 of 13 lined games. UTEP is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 against SEC opponents. The Miners are in their third season with Sean Kugler as head coach. He is 9-16 overall with UTEP and 6-10 in Conference USA play. Like Arkansas, UTEP has a stud back it will look to utilize. Aaron Jones rushed for 1,321 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
