UTEP Miners Game Notes
UTEP redshirt sophomore QB Gavin Hardison completed 21-of-34 passes for 204 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Friday’s 42-25 loss to UAB. Hardison (6’3/205) and the Miners didn’t have an answers for UAB in the second half, as the Blazers outscored them 24-8 in the second half, after trailing 17-14 at halftime. Hardison’s lone touchdown pass on the day came on a 30-yard pass to wide receiver Jacob Cowing to cut UAB’s lead to a field goal late in the third quarter, but that would be the last time UTEP would get in the end zone on the afternoon. UTEP closes its season with a 7-5 record, but has won just one of its last five games. They are bowl eligible, but are limping to the finish line. A few weeks off could pay dividends for the Miners ahead of bowl season.
Fresno State Bulldogs Game Notes
24/7 Sports’ Chris Hummer is reporting that Fresno State QB Jake Haener has exited the transfer portal. After entering the portal a mere eight days ago, Haener (6’1/195) will no longer be transferring. The stars aligned really quickly linking Haener to his former head coach and new Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer. Haener did have a good relationship with new head coach Jeff Tedford, who recruited him to Fresno State during his first stint which ran 2017-2019. There is still the possibility that Haener will enter the NFL Draft, as the quarterback class is looking thinner by the day. He will have until January 17th to make a decision on next season.
