Vanderbilt Commodores Game Notes
Vanderbilt junior WR Cam Johnson caught ten passes for 114 yards in Saturday’s 24-17 loss at Mississippi State. Johnson (6’0/185) may not have reached the end zone, but he did lead the Commodores in receptions, receiving yards and targets (13). The junior was also one of three to catch at least six passes on the day, with RB Keyon Henry-Brooks (9-97-0) and WR Chris Pierce (6-76-1) being the others. For the season Johnson, who hit double figures in receptions for the second straight game, has caught 33 passes for 334 yards and a touchdown. He’ll look to help get Vanderbilt into the win column for the first time this season when the Commodores visit Kentucky next week.
Kentucky Wildcats Game Notes
Kentucky redshirt sophomore QB Joey Gatewood completed 14-of-24 passes for just 86 yards with 23 yards on the ground in a 14-3 loss to Georgia on Saturday. Gatewood got the start with Terry Wilson out for Saturday’s contest due to a wrist injury. For the most part, it was not an effective outing for the former four-star recruit and Auburn transfer. The 6-foot-4, 232-pound signal-caller didn’t turn the ball over in terms of interceptions, but had a huge fumble that eliminated a scoring opportunity, and couldn’t get the football down the field at all. if Wilson can go, Gatewood is back on the bench on November 14 when the Wildcats take on Vanderbilt after a bye.
Vanderbilt vs. Kentucky Betting Prediction
The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings between these two teams and has cashed in four straight games played in Lexington. The under is also 11-5 in the Commodores’ last 16 conference games, is 20-8-1 in their last 29 games as a road underdog and has cashed in five of their last six road games as well. On the other side, the under is a perfect 4-0 in the Wildcats’ last four games overall, is 18-4 in their last 22 conference games and is 10-3 in their last 13 games coming off a loss.
