Virginia Tech vs. Miami Prediction
Can Miami keep its undefeated season alive with a victory tonight against ACC rival Virginia Tech at 8:00 p.m. ET?
ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Miami, for now. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Hurricanes are 1-point home favorites over the Hokies, who were favored by a couple of points all week until the line jumped the fence again (Miami opened as a 1.5-point favorite). As for the total, the number now sits at 46.5 after hitting the board at 47.5.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Virginia Tech. As of Saturday morning, 55% of tickets for tonight’s game are on the Hokies to cover.
HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: Virginia Tech and the under. The Hokies have covered the spread in six of their last eight road games against the Hurricanes and are 11-5 against the number in their last 16 games overall versus Miami. The under, meanwhile, is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Miami and 10-4 in the last 14 meetings overall.
WHO WE LIKE: Miami. Those backing Virginia Tech tonight have noted that the Hurricanes have struggled offensively of late, which is 100-percent accurate. Quarterback Malik Rosier has struggled until the final drives of games, where he suddenly comes alive in efforts to lead Miami to victories.
But how can everyone be so sure that the Hokies will be outstanding offensively tonight behind a redshirt freshman in Josh Jackson? The youngster has been great, but this is a tough spot for Jackson. He’s playing on the road against an undefeated team with a stout defense.
Miami is allowing just 18.7 points per game and while the Hurricanes have been gashed at times on the ground, they’ve been stout in the red zone. I’m going to take a flier on the home team that has shown a knack for winning close games late. Has Miami been perfect? No, in fact the Hurricanes are flawed offensively. But there’s something about Mark Richt’s team this year and I’m going to back them in their biggest match to date.
