Wake heating up
Since losing at home to Louisville 62-59, Wake Forest has won back-to-back games, beating Florida State and N.C. State. The Demon Deacons are now 7-1 on the season, 3-1 in the ACC, 4-3-1 against the spread and 5-3 with the under.
Wake Forest has been one of the top offensive teams in the nation this year, averaging 38 points and 510.6 yards per game. Defensively, Wake Forest is allowing 24.6 points and 400 yards per game. Jamie Newman has thrown for 2,059 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, while rushing for 305 yards and five touchdowns, to lead the offense. Sage Surratt is the leading receiver with 62 catches for 948 yards and nine touchdowns, while Kenneth Walker III and Cade Carney have each rushed for 383 yards and three touchdowns.
Hokies edged by ND
The Virginia Tech football team is coming off a narrow loss on the road last weekend to Notre Dame, getting edged 21-20. That snapped a three-game win streak for the Hokies and dropped them to 5-3 on the year. Tech is 2-2 in the ACC, 3-5 against the spread and 4-4 with the over/under total.
The Hokies are in the bottom half of the country on offense and defense. Tech is averaging 29 points and 375.8 yards per game on offense this year while giving up 28.5 points and 402.6 yards per contest. The Hokies have had to use three quarterbacks this year. Quincy Patterson II played last week, but has completed just 35 percent of his passes for 193 yards. Hendon Hooker has thrown for 580 yards and seven touchdowns, but is questionable to play this weekend due to a knee injury. Deshawn McClease is the leading rusher with 507 yards and 3 touchdowns. Damon Hazelton is the leading receiver with 15 catches for 300 yards and six scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Wake Forest
The Demon Deacons are 6-1 with the under in their last seven games in November and 5-1 with the under in their last six against a winning team.
Virginia Tech
The Hokies are 6-0-1 with the over in their last seven ACC games and 5-2 with the over in their last seven games following a cover.
Prediction:
These two haven’t met since 2014 and they have hit the under in three of their last five meetings. Their last encounter was actually a 6-3 overtime game. Wake has been finding offense as late, but I think that will take a step back when the Demon Deacons go on the road to face the Hokies. Tech has been playing well defensively at home in recent games. However, their offense is still limited. They scored 20 points last week, and that included a defensive touchdowns. They just don’t seem to have the QB play to really get into shootouts and be successful.
College Football Week 11 Prediction: Wake Forest/Virginia Tech Under 63
