Cougars struggle this season
Washington State is coming off a 31-13 loss at Washington in its season finale. The Cougars lost all five games away from home this year. They are 6-6 on the season, 4-8 against the spread and 7-5 with the over.
Like usual, Washington State is strong on offense while being a mess on defense. The Cougars are averaging 39.2 points and 516.8 yards per game on offense this year behind the nation’s top passing attack. Defensively, Washington State is giving up 31.4 points and 456.8 yards per contest. Anthony Gordon has lit up opposing secondaries this year for 5,228 passing yards and 45 touchdowns with 16 interceptions. Brandon Arcondao has been his top receiver with 67 catches for 942 yards and six touchdowns. However, he is questionable in this game with a wrist injury. Max Borghi is the team’s leading rusher with 790 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Falcons soaring
Air Force won its last seven games of the season, including a 20-6 win over Wyoming in the season finale. The Falcons are 10-2 on the season, 7-5 against the spread and 6-6 with the over/under total.
The Falcons have been solid on both sides of the ball this season. Their offense is putting up 34.3 points and 423.5 yards per game behind a dynamic run game that puts up nearly 300 yards per contest. Defensively, Air Force is allowing just 19.8 points and 315.8 yards per game. Kadin Remsberg is the team’s leading rusher with 872 yards and seven touchdowns while two others have over 730 yards. Donald Hammond III has rushed for 491 yards and 11 touchdowns while throwing for 1,286 yards and 13 scores. Geraud Sanders is the team’s top receiver with 29 catches for 736 yards and seven touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Washington State
The Cougars are 15-7 ATS in their last seven non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last five against Mountain West Conference games.
Air Force
The Falcons are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven bowl games and 21-7 ATS in their last 28 non-conference games.
Prediction:
Air Force is rolling coming into this game, but the Falcons are facing an offense that is very explosive. That didn’t bother them much in a 56-26 win at Hawaii in October. Washington State has struggled with good defensive teams, including scoring just 13 against Washington and 20 against Cal. I think the Cougars are going to find some problems with the Air Force defense. The Falcons are probably going to be more up for this game as well, with a chance to 11 wins.
Cheez-It Bowl Prediction: Air Force -3
