West Virginia is coming off a 37-24 win over Iowa State to end the regular season at 7-5 overall. That snapped a three-game losing streak for the Mountaineers, but the team has since lost Clint Trickett at quarterback, as he retired due to multiple concussions. That puts Skyler Howard under center. He has thrown for 483 yards and five touchdowns this season. WVU is 7-5 against the spread this year, but 4-2 ATS in its last 6. The Mountaineers have hit the under in eight straight games.
Texas A&M had a disappointing end to its regular season, losing its last two and five of its last seven to finish 7-5 on the year and 3-5 in the SEC. The Aggies were just 4-8 against the spread this year and are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games. They have hit the under in four of their last six.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, West Virginia is the slight favorite today, as the Mountaineers are getting odds of -1.5 points against Texas A&M. The over/under total for the game has been set at 65.5 points (View Matchup). These two have no recent meetings.
The loss of Trickett will make this game interesting, but the Texas A&M defensive struggles have been against the run this year. The Aggies are giving up 223.5 yards per game on the ground, which could mean a big day from Rushel Shell and Wendell Smallwood, who have combined for 1,411 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. With Tricket out, WVU may look to run the ball more, especially against this Texas A&M defense.
