The thing that separates Greene from fellow Mountaineers’ quarterback JT Daniels is his ability to run, and Greene mustered 17 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown against the Wildcats on Saturday. How he plays will ultimately determine if West Virginia covers this game.
One of West Virginia’s defensive leaders is junior linebacker Lee Kpogba. Kpogba is 9th in the Big 12 with 79 total tackles on the season. He’s also recorded 2 sacks and a fumble recovery on the year. Lee Kpogba and fellow West Virginia linebacker Jasir Cox will have to be disciplined against Oklahoma State’s dual-threat QB Spencer Sanders on Saturday if they’re going to cover the number this weekend.

The senior from Denton, TX will be playing his final home game this Saturday, and he’ll need to protect the ball better than he did last weekend if Oklahoma State is going to win and cover the spread. Sanders threw 4 interceptions and took 5 sacks last weekend in the Cowboys’ 28-13 loss at Oklahoma on Saturday. For the season Spencer Sanders has good numbers (2,642 passing yards, 17 passing TDs, 9 INTs, 391 rushing yards, 8 rushing TDs) and he’ll need to produce at a high level for the Cowboys to win on Senior Day this weekend.
Oklahoma State senior safety Jason Taylor II is tied for 4th in the nation with 5 interceptions this season. In addition to that, Taylor has recorded 83 total tackles, 7 passes defended, and a fumble recovery on the campaign. It’s hard to describe how bad this West Virginia team is, especially their defense. The Mountaineers rank outside the top 100 in opponent yards per play, opponent punts per offensive score, opponent yards per pass attempt, points per play margin, and average scoring margin. There are only 131 teams in the FBS. It’s also worth noting that West Virginia has already fired athletic director Shane Lyons, which means that Mountaineers head coach Neal Brown is likely gone at the end of the year as well. I don’t see how West Virginia can keep the game within a touchdown with a lame-duck coach and a Swiss cheese defense. I’ll lay the points with the Cowboys at home.
