Where Georgia’s Title Odds Sit
After solidifying its hold on the nation’s top recruiting class on Wednesday, what are Georgia’s odds to win the 2019 College Football National Championship?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book YouWager, the Bulldogs are 17/2 to win next year’s national title. Believe it or not, that puts Georgia behind three teams in terms of winning next year’s college football national championship. Alabama remains the favorite at 2/1, while Clemson is 7/1 and Ohio State is 15/2.

Georgia signed four more ESPN 300 recruits on Wednesday, including cornerback Tyson Campbell (No. 9 overall). The Bulldogs finished with seven of the top 25 players in the 2018 ESPN 300, most by any school in a single cycle in the ESPN 300 era.
The defending national champion, meanwhile, finished with the No. 6 class in the country according to ESPN Stats & Information. It was the worst ranking since Nick Saban’s first year in Tuscaloosa and it snapped a 10-year streak of top-3 classes. The Crimson Tide missed on five ESPN 300 recruits that listed Alabama as a finalist and had two ESPN 300 commits flip to other schools.
Moving outside of the SEC, Tom Herman continues to make his mark in Austin. Texas finished with ESPN’s No. 3 class in 2018, up from No. 33 a year ago in Herman’s first season with the program. The 30-spot jump is the second-largest from one season to the next by a school to finish with a top 25 class. Michigan went from No. 40 to No. 6 from 2015-2016.
As for the Buckeyes, they and Big Ten rival Penn State finished with the No. 2 and No. 4-ranked classes, respectively. This is the first time the Big Ten ever had multiple schools finish in the same ESPN Top 5. In fact, before this season, no Big Ten school outside of Ohio State had ever finished with a top-5 class in the ESPN 300 area.
How did Jimbo Fisher did in his first stint recruiting for Texas A&M? Fisher’s class rank improved eight spots on Wednesday from No. 24 to No. 16, which is the best of any school to finish in the top 50. Florida State’s Willie Taggart’s first class with the Seminoles also ranked 11th, best of any new head coach in 2018.
