Oklahoma vs. Iowa State Pick

Will Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma fall short of the betting total when the Sooners visit Iowa State on Thursday night at 7:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Sooners are now 21-point road favorites versus the Cyclones after opening as a 19.5-point favorite. As for the total, the number opened at 72 and has been bet down to 70 at the majority of online sports books.

The Sooners rolled to an easy win last Saturday when they beat Kansas 56-3 as a 39.5-point home favorite. It was Oklahoma’s fifth consecutive win and the third time the Sooners covered the spread in their last five games. The under has also cashed in two of Oklahoma’s last three games, with the one ‘over’ coming in a 66-59 shootout with Texas Tech in Lubbock two weeks ago.

The Cyclones are headed in the opposite direction, losing for the fourth straight week in a 31-26 defeat at home versus Kansas State. They did cover, however, and are now 5-3 against the spread this season. In fact, after covering as a 6-point home underdog last week, Iowa State has now won at the betting window in five of its last six games. The over is also 4-1 over that span.

OUR PICK: These teams usually play high-scoring games against each other, with the over cashing in all four of the last four meetings between these two conference rivals. The over is also 4-1 in the Cyclones’ last five games in Ames and is 4-1 in their last five conference games as well. On the other side, the over has hit in six of the Sooners’ last eight road games, is 5-2 in their last seven games overall, and is 35-17-1 in their last 53 conference matchups.
