FBC–T25-BORDER RIVALRY. Also listed on main Sports Digest.
LAWRENCE, Kan. – William Quantrill crossed into Kansas from Missouri and attacked at dawn. His raiders dragged men as old as 90 and boys as young as 14 from their homes and shot them in front of horrified wives and mothers. About 200 were killed and most of Lawrence was in flames. From this carnage, the seeds were sown for a college football rivalry that began only 28 years later. By Doug Tucker. AP Photo.

FBC–T25-IRON BOWL-STREAK
UNDATED – Alabama safety Rashad Johnson is tired of the jokes and grief he gets about the Crimson Tide’s maddening five-year Iron Bowl losing streak. He’ll keep going home, though, despite all the grief he gets from his family. By John Zenor.
FBC–T25-TENNESSEE-FULMER.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Phillip Fulmer isn’t ready to do what Lloyd Carr did. The Tennessee coach wants to put the Volunteers on top one more time before he’s through. At 57 years old, he has no desire to retire with just one national championship. By Beth Rucker.
