FBC–T25-SABAN VS LSU
UNDATED – Nothing gets college football fans more riled up than a coach who bolts for a big-money contract in the NFL. Wait a sec, there is one other thing that makes them even madder: When that coach returns to your conference, his wallet brimming from another huge deal, to coach a rival school. That’s why Nick Saban is so reviled in Cajun country, especially heading this week’s game between his former team, No. 3 LSU, and his current team, 17th-ranked Alabama. By Paul Newberry. BC-FBC–T25-COLLEGE FOOTBALL FOCUS
STORRS, Conn. – In six seasons as a major college program, Connecticut football has already lived a lifetime. The Huskies exceeded expectations on arrival, became part of a major conference, watched that conference nearly die and were part of a lengthy legal battle over its demise. UConn was deemed a program that could save the Big East and speculated to be on the ACC’s wish list. Then the Huskies watched as the Big East blossomed without their help. After all that, the Huskies are again exceeding expectations and having their best season yet. By College Football Writer Ralph D. Russo. AP Photos.

FBC–T25-PAC-10 QUARTERBACKS.
TEMPE, Ariz. – With eight of the top nine passers from last autumn returning, this was supposed to be the Year of the Quarterback in the Pac-10. It’s turned into the Year of the Depth Chart. Injuries to starting quarterbacks at USC, California and UCLA have produced disastrous results. Meanwhile, No. 4 Oregon and No. 6 Arizona State have kept their quarterbacks healthy – so far – and that’s a big reason they’ve emerged from a jumbled race. By College Football Writer Andrew Bagnato.
