(STATS) – Aaron Best is a fixture at Eastern Washington and it should continue to be that way after he led the Eagles to a national runner-up finish this season.
The Big Sky university announced Thursday the second-year coach has verbally agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season.
Best has spent 22 seasons at Eastern Washington as a player or coach. The 2018 Big Sky co-coach of the year led his alma mater to a 12-3 record, a share of the conference title and its second appearance in the FCS championship game, where the Eagles lost to North Dakota State 38-24 last Saturday. The Eagles finished second in the STATS FCS Top 25.
“I am certainly grateful and humbled at the opportunity to be the head football coach for the foreseeable future,” Best said. “EWU and Cheney are special to our family.”
Best has a 19-7 record in two seasons, including 13-3 in the Big Sky. His team has a 3.15 accumulative grade point average.
