ETSU schedules Vandy, App State series

(STATS) – East Tennessee State announced multiyear agreements for future games against Vanderbilt and Appalachian State on Friday.
ETSU, which returned to football last year for the first time since 2003, will play both schools in 2019 and then face Vanderbilt again in 2021 and Appalachian State in 2024. The four FBS games add to the Southern Conference school’s announcement in February that it will face Tennessee in 2018.
ETSU and Vanderbilt will meet for the first time, while Appalachian State holds a 31-14-1 series lead over the Buccaneers. Dates only were announced for the two future Appalachian State games – both on Aug. 31.
“Obviously, playing FBS opponents Vanderbilt and Appalachian State, along with the University of Tennessee brings prestige and excitement to our program, and will definitely help us in recruiting,” said ETSU coach Carl Torbush said. “As we move forward and grow as a program, there will be more announcements like this in the future.”
Appalachian State also announced it will host Big South member Gardner-Webb on Sept. 22, 2018. The Mountaineers hold a 7-0 series lead.
