(STATS) – With voting for the FCS legacy awards set to begin next week, a half-dozen players were added to STATS watch lists on Wednesday.
A national panel will vote for the STATS FCS Walter Payton Award (national offensive player of the year), STATS FCS Buck Buchanan Award (national defensive player of the year) and STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award (national freshman player of the year) as well as for the finalists to be named for the STATS FCS Eddie Robinson Award (national coach of the year).
The newcomers to the Walter Payton Award Watch List:
Michael Bandy, San Diego, WR, Jr., 5-11, 190, La Mirada, California
Statistics: 74 receptions, 1,427 yards, 14 TDs; 159.6 all-purpose yards per game (10 games)
Ra’Quanne Dickens, UIW, RB, Sr., 5-10, 195, Seminole, Florida
Statistics: 163 carries, 1,054 yards, 14 TDs; 11 receptions, 86 yards (10 games)
The newcomers to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List:
Sully Laiche, Nicholls, DT, Jr., 6-2, 270, Gramercy, Louisiana
Statistics: 36 tackles (24 solo), 16 TFL, 8.5 sacks, 2 PBU, 2 QBH 2 FR, 2 FF (10 games)
Will Warner, Drake, SS, Jr., 6-3, 201, Pella, Iowa
Statistics: 38 tackles (30 solo), 1.5 TFL, 8 INTs with 223 returns yards, 4 PBU, 2 TDs (9 games)
The newcomers to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List:
Ryan Greenhagen, Fordham, LB, Fr., 6-1, 220, Sparta, New Jersey
Statistics: 54 tackles (40 solo), 13 TFL, 8 sacks, 6 QBH, 1 FF (10 games)
Adrian Hope, Furman, LB, R-Fr., 6-1, 218, Ocala, Florida
Statistics: 28 tackles (22 solo), 14 TFL, 12.5 sacks, 1 PBU, 4 QBH, 3 FF (9 games)
The Payton Award, known as the Heisman of the FCS, and the Robinson are in their 32nd year. The Buchanan has been presented since 1995 and the Rice followed in 2011.
The national panel of voters includes over 150 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries.
