STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -Dan Connor broke the career tackles record at Penn State on Saturday with a third-quarter stop of Purdue running back Jaycen Taylor.
Connor’s tackle gave him 373 for his career to pass former teammate Paul Posluszny.
The record-setting tackle came on a third-and-1 on the Penn State 18, when Taylor’s 2-yard rush gave the Boilermakers a first down.
Posluszny, now with the Buffalo Bills, had just set the tackles mark last year. Before that, Greg Buttle was the standard bearer with 343 tackles from 1973-75.
