GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -Oklahoma wide receiver Malcolm Kelly did not start the Fiesta Bowl against No. 11 West Virginia on Wednesday night because of a deep thigh bruise.
Kelly, who had nine touchdowns to lead all wide receivers for the No. 3 Sooners, went through warmups in uniform and lay on the field before the game as a trainer stretched out his right leg. He did not play during Oklahoma’s opening series.
Kelly had 49 catches for 821 yards this season.
Quentin Chaney made his first career start in place of Kelly, who injured his knee in the first quarter of last year’s Fiesta Bowl.
