(STATS) – Penn announced Tuesday it will make a good-will trip and play an exhibition in China next year.
The Ivy League program will fly to Beijing on March 2, move on to Shanghai four days later and return to its Philadelphia campus on March 9. While in China, the Quakers will hold part of their spring practices as well as clinics for youths and young adults, and face the American Football League of China All-Stars in the Penn-China Global Ambassadors Bowl March 8 in Shanghai.
The Quakers are expected to visit historic landmarks such as The Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, Old Beijing, 2008 Olympic venues, Huangpu River, Yu Yuan Garden, Shanghai World Financial Center and Jade Buddha Temple.
Drake University made a similar trip to China last year.
Penn’s trip is being organized by Global Football, which since 1996 has provided 15,000 amateur football players, coaches, families and fans from more than 350 schools the opportunity to travel internationally and interact with people of differing cultures.
