(STATS) – Stetson has rewarded coach Roger Hughes with a contract extension through at least the 2021 season, the school announced Tuesday.
The Hatters went 8-2 overall and tied for second place in the Pioneer Football League at 6-2 this past season – their first winning record since Hughes helped restart the program in 2013. The 58-year-old was named the league’s coach of the year.
He is 24-42 at Stetson.
“I was encouraged by the excellent season Stetson football posted last year and look forward to Coach Hughes continuing this degree of success into the future,” athletic director Jeff Altier said.
Hughes was one of 15 coaches who were named finalists for the STATS FCS Eddie Robinson Award, which goes to the national coach of the year.
