The Golden Tigers’ homecoming win was a reversal of last year’s match with Clark Atlanta, when the Panthers won 10-6.
Atkinson scored the game’s first touchdown on a 1-yard run at the 10:12 mark. Antoine Mitchell followed about five minutes later to cap the first quarter scoring.
The Golden Tigers made it to the end zone four times in the second quarter including Lorenzo Crawford’s score on an 86-yard pass from Richard Fitzhugh that made it 34-0. Matt Sims then kicked a 27-yard field goal to close the half.
Crawford scored again in the fourth quarter and a touchdown from Kaon Davis on an 8-yard pass from Eric Palmer finished the game.
Atkinson was 17-of-25 and Clark Atlanta’s Corey Jones finished 7-of-20 with 99 yards.
