Walker throws 4 TD passes, No. 23 Temple tops SMU 60-40

 

DALLAS (AP) Temple quarterback P.J. Walker threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score as the 23rd-ranked Owls beat Southern Methodist 60-40 on Friday.
Jager Gardner had a 94-yard scoring run on the Owls’ second play for the longest run in Temple history, and a quick boost for a team coming off a close high-profile loss to Notre Dame.
Temple’s 60 points represented the team’s highest score since 1973.
Walker’s final touchdown pass was a 75-yarder to Ventell Bryant the first play after the Mustangs had closed within seven points early in the fourth quarter.
