SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -Quarterback Josh Collier ran for 66 yards and two touchdowns to lead Wofford to an opening day win against Georgetown (Ky.) on Saturday.
Collier was 5 of 12 in passing and had one punt for 36 yards.
Kevious Johnson added 94 yards and one touchdown and Jeremy Marshall had 83 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown run, on just four carries for the Terriers (1-0), who had 401 yards rushing and 83 yards passing.
Georgetown (0-1) was led by Andy Ahrens who was 26 for 43 with 260 yards passing and two touchdowns. Ahrens also had 16 yards rushing, including a 4-yard touchdown run.
Wofford jumped out to a 14-0 lead on Collier’s two rushing touchdowns. The Tigers cut that to 14-7 by halftime on Ahrens’ first TD pass to Brian Piper.
Georgetown got as close as 24-21 when Ahrens threw a 29-yard scoring pass to Piper.
Marshall followed up with his TD run and Justin Joslin pulled in a 37-yard pass from Ben Widmyer to finish the scoring for Wofford.
