Cowboys vs. Panthers Week 7 Odds
CHARLOTTE, NC (The Spread) – For the second straight week the Cowboys will hit the road, this team they’ll travel to Carolina to take on the Panthers on Sunday at 1:00PM ET.
DALLAS: The Cowboys are now 2-3 on the year after losing 31-29 to the Ravens last Sunday. Poor clock management in the final minute of the game cost Dallas an opportunity to pick up its third win, although Dan Carpenter did have a chance to win the game with a field goal and missed. Tony Romo was 25-of-36 for 261 yards and a touchdown, while DeMarco Murray rushed for 93 yards on 14 carries. Murray will miss Week 7 with an injury, so look for Felix Jones to pick up the slack. The Cowboys did cover the spread in the loss, however, and are now 2-3 against the number this season. The under is also 3-2 in the Cowboys’ first five games.
CAROLINA: The Panthers are coming off a much-needed bye. They’re winless in their last three games, including a Week 5 loss to the Seahawks in which they were held to 12 points in a 16-12 defeat. Cam Newton threw for just 141 yards and lost a fumble on Carolina’s final offensive play of the game. The loss dropped the Panthers’ record to 1-4 on the year and it was the third time in five games that Carolina failed to cover the spread. Newton leads the Panthers in both passing (1,154) and rushing (209), and also has a team-high three touchdowns. Carolina is currently five games back of the undefeated Falcons in the NFC West.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cowboys are 1-point favorites over the Panthers, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 45.5 points. Dallas enters this game with a 2-3 overall record and is 1-2 on the road, while Carolina is 1-4 overall and 1-2 at home.
TRENDS: The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between the Cowboys and Panthers when the game is in Carolina. Dallas is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games following a bye, but 3-9 ATS in its last 12 games overall and 8-20-1 ATS in its last 29 games versus the NFC. On the other side, the Panthers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games following an ATS loss and 4-0 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
