MIAMI: Miami actually played the Patriots tough earlier this month, losing 23-16 at home on Dec. 2. The Dolphins covered an 8-point spread in that loss. Miami is currently coming off a 24-10 win over the Bills last week. The Dolphins have won two straight coming into this season finale. The Dolphins were outgained 381-301 in the loss but the defense forced four turnovers to help aid in the victory. Running back Reggie Bush had a big outing for the Miami offense, as he rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown and also had two touchdown receptions on 42 yards receiving.
NEW ENGLAND: The Patriots come into this game at 11-4 and AFC East champs. They are currently slated in the 3 seed for the playoffs, but could jump up to one of the top two spots with a win and a loss by either Houston or Denver, as the Pats have a win over both teams. A loss and a win by the Ravens will drop New England to the No. 4 seed. The Patriots have not been playing all that well as of late. They lost to the 49ers, 41-34, two weeks ago, and then only beat the Jaguars, 23-16, last week. The Jaguars racked up 436 total yards on New England, while the Patriots only amassed 349 yards against the Jags, which is well below their average. Tom Brady was 24 of 41 passing for 267 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He was noticeably upset after the game with his team’s performance, which could mean a big day on Sunday.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, New England is the favorite at home, as the Patriots have odds of -10 points against the Dolphins. The over/under total has been set at 46 points. Miami is 7-8 on the season, 2-5 on the road and 8-7 against the spread. New England is 11-4 on the season, 5-2 at home and 8-7 against the spread.
TRENDS: The Dolphins are actually 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games in New England. The road team is also 8-3 ATS in the last 11 games in this series, while the underdog is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings. These two teams have also combined to hit the over in 4 of their last 5 meetings.
