INDIANAPOLIS: The Colts are two games behind the Texans in the standings and will play them twice over the next three weeks. Indy is coming off a 27-23 win over Tennessee last week to pick up its third straight victory. The Colts, once again, had to rally late for the victory. The Colts won on the final play of the game two weeks ago against the Lions. Against the Titans, the Colts were down 23-21 midway through the fourth quarter but Andrew Luck led the team on a pair of drives that led to field goals for the win. Luck didn’t have his best game, as he was just 16 of 34 passing for 196 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, including a pick-six. Luck was picked up by running back Vick Ballard, who rushed for 94 yards on 19 carries. Despite the 9-4 record, the Colts are still being outscored on the season 329-292.
HOUSTON: The Texans saw a six-game losing streak snap on Monday night in a 42-14 thrashing at the hands of the Patriots. The numbers weren’t that lopsided, as the Texans were only outgained 419-323 in total yards, but the Patriots jumped out to a 28-0 lead and never looked back. With New England starting fast, Houston wasn’t able to utilize Arian Foster, who rushed for just 46 yards on 15 carries. Foster has been held to just 84 rushing yards over his last two games. Quarterback Matt Schaub was 19 of 32 passing for 232 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Texans are 9.5-point favorites versus the Colts, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 47.5 points. Houston is 11-2 on the season, 5-1 at home and 8-5 against the spread. Indianapolis is 9-4 on the season, 3-3 on the road and 9-4 against the spread.
TRENDS: The home team has covered the spread in the last 4 games in this series. The Colts are 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 conference games and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games in December. Houston is just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games in December. These two teams have combined to hit the over in 10 of their last 14 meetings overall and in 6 of their last 7 meetings at Houston.
